Before ceramics my main media was text. The clay attracted me with its power to put words down to earth. I feel myself translating meanings into substance. The art is my way to materialize the ideas, give them shape, color and texture, fit them into the space. I use different hand building techniques — pinching and slabs. And I’m fond of experimenting with glazes. The certain tone and texture of the surface are essential for me as well as geometry and composition. My works are the game with the audience. They contain hints and allusions to specific cultural or literary context. But they also can be perceived on sensual level and bring the joy of view and touch.
